A sea of colour greeted the Port Elizabeth beachfront as thousands of enthusiastic women took to the start line of the 27th annual SPAR Women’s Challenge today.
The most beautiful race, as it has been christened, offered 10km and 5km options from Pollok Beach and the result was a field of runners consisting of all shapes and sizes – as well as several men dressed in drag.
While Namibia’s Helalia Johannes dominated the race upfront, it was once again the spirit at the back of the field that captured everyone’s imagination.
