Online entries for the 2019 SPAR Women’s Challenge in Port Elizabeth open on Monday, March 18.
The 10km feature race and 5km run take place from Pollok Beach in Summerstrand on May 4 while the 2.5km Kids’ Challenge is scheduled for May 1 from the same venue.
Only women aged 14 and over are allowed to enter the 10km event while the age restriction for the 5km is nine years. Youngsters under nine years of age may take part on condition that they are accompanied by an adult for the whole race.
Men may only enter the 5km event on condition that they dress in drag and run near the back of the field.
There is a special procedure for corporate and school bulk entries, which close on April 26.
The entry fee for the 5km is R60. Non-licenced athletes pay R100 and licenced runners R60 to enter the 10km while licenced participants over 65 can enter the 10km free of charge.
The first 8 000 pre-entrants will receive T-shirt vouchers, which are redeemable at registration. Medals will be awarded to all finishers in the 10km and 5km races.
Entrants can collect their race numbers from 9am to 6pm at Pollok Beach on May 2 and 3 or from 5.30am on the morning of the race.
Online entries close on April 27. Manual entries can be handed in at The Footballer, Brian Bands, Action Sports (Summerstand and Walmer) and Sportsmans Warehouse until May 1.
